Qantas Points – Sign-up Bonus and earn rate

Large sign-up bonuses are a quick way to turbo-charge your points balance. The ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum offers 75,000 bonus Qantas Points . To be eligible for these bonus points you have to be a new card holder (you don’t currently hold and haven’t opened or closed an ANZ Frequent Flyer Black, ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum or an ANZ Frequent Flyer credit card in the last 12 months.). To earn the bonus points you need to meet the minimum spend requirement of $2,500 in the first three months.

Beyond the generous 75,000 bonus Qantas Points, the ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum offers an earn rate of

  • 0.5 Qantas Points for every $1 over $3,000

Per statement period on eligible purchases. Eligible purchases include most transactions. Exclusion include: fees, cash, cash equivalent transactions, balance transfers and transactions for gambling or gaming.

For a mid-tier card this is a pretty generous earn rate with many competitors offering a flat 0.5 Qantas Points per dollar  spent.
