The Citi Premier Qantas Credit Card is offering 100,000 Qantas Points. These are split into 70,000 after you meet the $6,000 minimum spend within 90 days of approval, and 30,000 at the start of your second year. Let’s dive into the details of this card, if you’re looking for the TL;DR, skip down to the summary.

Qantas Points – Sign-up Bonus and earn rate

Receive 70,000 bonus Qantas Points when you spend at least $6,000 on eligible purchases within the first 90 days from card approval.

A common trend among points collectors is to churn credit cards shortly after receiving the sign up bonus. To encourage people to stick around Citi is offering 30,000 additional Qantas Points for people that hold the card for a full year. Importantly this means you will be paying the second annual fee in full ($350, $175 if you spent $48,000 or more the previous year). While the second annual fee can sometimes be waived, if you choose to keep the card for the extra points it is best to assume you will be paying the annual fee. That way if you get it waived it is a nice bonus but you won’t receive a nasty surprise.

To be eligible for these bonus points you have to be a new card holder .

The Citi Premier Qantas Credit Card has an earn rate of

  • 1 Qantas Point for every $1 spent on eligible online purchases
  • 1 Qantas Points for every $1 spent overseas or online with a merchant that is based overseas
  • 0.5 Qantas Points per $1 on all other eligible transactions.

Per statement period on eligible purchases. Eligible purchases include most transactions. Exclusions include: fees, cash, cash equivalent transactions, balance transfers and transactions for gambling or gaming.

Earning points on (almost) every transaction could bring you closer to booking or upgrading those flights.

Fees and Credit Limit

Being a premium card with a large sign-up bonus as well as insurances, lounge invites and other benefits, it is not surprising that the fee reflects this. The Citi Premier Qantas credit card has an annual fee of $350. However, if you spend $48,000 or more on eligible purchases or cash advances in the previous year, otherwise $350. The interest rate is 21.49% on purchases and the minimum credit limit is $10,000.

Lounge passes and Qantas Club discount

This is a high earning card with multiple benefits including lounge passes and a large 100,000 total bonus Qantas Points on offer. The drawbacks are a pretty high annual fee as well as needing to hold it for a full year to be eligible for the full 100,000 Qantas Points.
