Qatar Airways Al Mourjan business class lounge review (Doha)

Qatar Doha business class lounge

The Qatar Airways Business class lounge in Doha (known as Al Mourjan Lounge) offers seating for up to one thousand guests across a huge 10,000 square meters. This is an airport lounge on a truly incredible scale.

Entry into the Al Mourjan lounge is reserved for Qatar, as well as Oneworld alliance, First Class and Business Class passengers. Passengers flying on Qatar Airways Economy Class can purchase lounge access for 450 Qatari riyals, or about $120 US. The lounge is open all day every day. The longest stop-over we had here was almost 12 hours so we made full use of the a la carte dining.

Location and layout

The Qatar Al Mourjan business class lounge is near the duty free area of the Doha Hamad International Airport. To get in you will need to let a friendly Qatar staff member scan your boarding pass before you can ride the escalator up to the lounge.

After clearing the check-in desk you are welcomed by a staff member near the striking silver sculpture. As the lounge is massive they are very helpful for first time lounge attendees to find their way around.

There are literally hundreds of seats available spread over two floors and 10,000 square meters so even though it is very busy airport and lounge it rarely feels overly full. In fact, at some hours of the day you almost have it to yourself. We were there for so long that the staff started recognising us when we re-entered dining areas!

Dining

There are two main dining areas in the lounge. The buffet section is to your left after entering. I say buffet, but it also comes with table service and they have sandwiches available to order.

The main dining area is to the right, past an impressive water feature and up a spiral staircase. This is where the Al Mourjan lounge really shines, they have a variety of dishes available to order a la carte, a sushi station, and a middle eastern breakfast section with a variety of dips and breads. As well as the food, they have an excellent selection of drinks which are also brought out to your table. We ordered sushi to start, followed by grilled salmon and an eye fillet steak. All the food was fantastic and it is a great experience.

Summary

The Qatar Doha Al Mourjan lounge is consistently rated one of the best Business Class lounges in the world, and with good reason. It is on a scale that eclipses most other lounges, the drinks and food are also at a very high standard and you can get a range of cocktails prepared.
